About Me
My name is Ashley Gowens
I’m from Green Bay, Wisconsin (Go Packers!) I graduated in 2021 from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a Bachelors in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education K-8, with a certificate in Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities. I moved to Arizona after graduation and am now married with 2 under 2!
I have 8 years of experience working in school/tutoring settings and 4 years of experience as a lead, certified special education teacher. As a special education teacher, I work daily with students who demonstrate diverse learning needs and abilities.
I have training in Yoga4Classrooms, experience with Zones of Regulation, and undergraduate research experience in Mindfulness strategies for self-regulation for students with disabilities. This is what I am most passionate about when it comes to working with students with disabilities.
I’ve known I wanted to be a teacher since I was a freshman in high school. I love building relationships with kids and helping them progress academically and socially. I am committed to creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where ALL students learn and grow to their full potential. My goal is to uplift students in their confidence and skills to progress toward their academic and social goals.
I believe the best way to achieve this is by fostering mindfulness skills to create a calm body, mind, and classroom.
